Breakthrough Coach Notes
Signing up for this workshop March 8-9 and very excited about working with a new Office Manager and applying these principles:
GLEANINGS
* meet daily w/ OM and work as a Team
* delegate important, thinking work
* clean office: leave only computer, desk, chairs...only a very small personal area, minimal
* 2 full days in classrooms NOW...SCHEDULE IT. DO IT.
* set personal goals: excercise, diet, family time...schedule it
* taking work home and weekends don't happen
* MAX 50 hours a week. Then STOP.
* be an instructional leader
* delegate day-to-day operations
The bulk of his presentation centered on how school secretaries should "run" the building while the principals should "manage" them. He stated that secretaries should (I'm taking these points from the handouts which contain a lot more):

- Handle all of the principal's phone calls and schedule all appointments.
- Handle all of the principal's email.
- Be accountable for having the principal's meetings start and end on time.
- Handle all of the principal's mail and paperwork.
- Holds a daily meeting with the principal (at least 20 minutes) where you both work on mail and paperwork.
