Reaction to Federal Way School Board Sept. Meeting
This is an open, public spat. School Board members arguing in public doesn’t seem to be a path to peace and working together. Is it time to bring in a mediator in a Study Session to address the issues and concerns? Sounds like there needs to be a conflict resolution agreement...how to disagree and rules of engagement. This may be a School Board out of control.
EXERPT FROM FEDERAL WAY SB MINUTES
Director Millen said he is amazed at the changes that have occurred on this Board over the last year. He said that last year the Board was always looking ahead and that several difficult issues were resolved without controversy. He said that it appears nothing can be done without creating controversy. He said at times he has felt embarrassed to be associated with this board although he said it is an honor to serve in the community.

Director VanDorien said he seconded all that Director Millen said. He also said that he has never missed a regularly scheduled board meeting. He also wanted to take an opportunity to refute allegations of disparaging remarks made by Castellar that have been placed in the newspapers. He is requesting that these comments stop. He said that out of 10 1Â2 months, only 4 months have not been tumultuous. He requested that the negativity stop.
