Michael's 21 and Rebirthing our Computer

Michael turns 21 today! We are going to church this morning and meeting his girlfriend, Jen, for pizza at the Rock. He's having a beer. Last night we had the family birthday and we had Ribeye, baked potatoes, rolls and apple pie. Michael got an iPod. I am sure proud of that boy.

Gary rebirthed our ailing computer on Thanksgiving. It had over 40 viruses and was slow, slow, slow. Even more, it had so much adware and software running in the background that it was just easier to start from scratch. Gary deleted every program that we didn't absolutely need and set up privliges for the kids that severely limits their ability to download programs. We agreed as a family to no downloads and being especially careful with IMing.
What a difference. The computer loads up in 30 seconds and the internet is very fast.

I wonder if many of our brains are like our computer, so full of programs running concurrently and viruses that we are crippled. Wouldn't it be great if we could take our brains back to birth and just start again. Maybe that is what being "born again" means. Maybe that is going back to our central purpose, to who God meant us to be. Maybe we should be looking for the very simpiliest programs. Maybe our brains are full of viruses that need to be killed so we can be the thankful, grateful, loving God-filled people that we were meant to be.
