PSESD Friday Oct. 15th Notes

I would be happy to meet with you to discuss this meeting.  The meeting documents will be in district mail Monday. This is a synopsis of the meeting:

1.  The group agreed to the SAVE Influence Agenda (input taken to edit the document to "inform" rather than "advocate")

2.  The group proposed editing changes to the Open Letter to Citizens.  These changes included:

A.  alternative introductions depending on if I884 passes or fails
B.  focus on the citizens repeatedly supporting education measures such as I732, I728, local bond/levies...I884
C. focus on statewide financial impacts rather than just 35 districts

3.  OSPI Presentation from Marty Daybell

A.  $750,000 funding for lead testing available through grant or apportionment (can recoup prior costs)
B.  Next funding issue will be financing existing lead problem repairs
C.  Expects standard funding for Capital square foot to go from $126 sq./ft to $155 sq./ft.
D.  OSPI has no credible threat of specific school security risks for election day
E.  Apologized for Core Student Record System and OSPI is working very, very hard to make the system work.  The system is not going away.  It saved millions of dollars when the Federal Government was challenging Medicaid Match.  He expects the system to be on hold for 3 weeks.  ESDs can become systems administrators for CSRS

4.  FAX BACK PINK FORM asking how OSPI can be helpful in supporting preschool and full-day kindergarten programs.
